The footwaer industry one of the mainstay of the country's industry, is expected to provide bigger contribution to the national economy. Footwaer industry is also one of the linchpin of export earnings, its contribution 3% of the total yearly non-oil export earnings. Based on this performance the government includes the footwaer industry in the prioritized a sectors to be developed.
In the last four years (2008-2013), indicators of the footwaer performance disclosed a rise in production capacity, output, export, consumption and employment.
The department of Industry reported that utilization of the production capacity of the footwear industry in the years from 2005 to 2007 shows an encouraging increase. However, although this increase has not yet reached the deal level, the rise in capacity utilization reflects an improving condition.
